Typical electrical circuits on the 1953 Chevrolet consisted of lights, matched horns, starting circuit, charging circuit and a battery.
Lighting featured sealed beam headlights and beam indicator on speedometer, parking lights at the grille. Out back were tails lights, stop lights, rear license plate lamp.
Inside was a dome light with manual switch. An automatic interior lighting switch at each front door were standard on the 1953 Chevy Belair and 1953 Chevy 210 series.

Perhaps the most unusual electrical accessory on a 1953 Chevy was a automatic headlight dimming system called Autronic eyes. They were first offered on the 1952 Oldsmobile and Cadillac. All other General Motors divisions, including Chevrolet started 1953. The name was later changed to Guide-Matic but it served the same purpose, to automatically switch the head lamps between upper and lower beams in response to light from an approaching vehicle.
