The Chevrolet Bel Air was an automobile series produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors from 1953 to 1975 and the designation was applied to a 3 car line up for 1953.
The 1953 Chevrolet Belaire front end styling was bold and overloaded with chrome. The grille featured a horizontal chrome bar with three vertical fins, capped at each end with a circular turn signal parking light housing.
Chevrolet customers welcomed the 1953 Belair with much excitement and critics deemed it smooth and its gracefully rounded lines stylish upon release.
To identify the luxury 1953 Chevy Bel Air from the lower cost 1953 Chevy 210 and
1953 Chevy 150 models, Chevrolet added a double molding on the rear fender. They then enclosed a panel that was decorated with a short, wide ribbed molding. 1953 Chevy Bel Aire Script and the Chevy crest was mounted on the leading edge above a large chrome gravel shield that protected the rear fender. Fender skirts were standard.
