To identify the luxury 1953 Chevy Bel Air from the lower cost 1953 Chevy 210 and 1953 Chevy 150 models, Chevrolet added a double molding on the rear fender. They then enclosed a panel that was decorated with a short, wide ribbed molding. 1953 Chevy Bel Aire Script and the Chevy crest was mounted on the leading edge above a large chrome gravel shield that protected the rear fender. Fender skirts were standard.
